From Scientific American - Three simple designs are here,
guaranteed to be "the best paper airplanes on the planet." We
cannot certify that, but the ones we made flew splendidly. The authors are
proud of record indoor flights of between 60 and 80 feet, hand-launched.
This small guide is as close to physics as to technology, for it suggests
the principles of good results--although it also includes precise instructions
for the folding. You have to trim a paper airplane; if not, it will fly
like a rock. "This is not an opinion. It is a guarantee," and
grade-school builders are not excepted. Symmetry is the aim, carefully secured.
"The left side MUST look just like the right." Here is how to
check on that and how to adjust, with five troubleshooting hints, plus launch
instructions for indoors and out. Take care. (Outdoors you might hit a thermal,

Customer - My dad bought this book for me years ago, and
I memorized and still fold some of the designs whenever I feel down. Anytime
I see a somebody make a standard, pointy tip airplane, I make the Starfighter
or APDW and blow them away! I only had difficulty folding one plane, but
they all fly quite well.

Customer - This book covers origami,as well as the principles
of flight in easily understandable language. The folding instructions, for
over 40 planes, are complete and easy to follow and the results are all
excellent performers. The book is beautifully illustrated with photographs
of the finished planes. The book can be enjoyed by both children and adults

Customer - This book is one of the best paper airplane
books I have seen that just gives instructions on how to make them out of
NORMAL PAPER. No annoying colorful designs you can ONLY make 2 of, this
has it all, from the normal dart, to the X-Wing. The first one in the book
is called The Master. It's GREAT! My favorite at least. You can also learn
to make ninja stars and frogs, helicopters, and a pac-man head. If you love
paper planes, get this book!

Editor - My dad bought this book for me when I was 9 years
old, and I was hooked on making paper airplanes for years--and so was he!
This delightful book, first published in 1967, and still in print, brings
together plans for the 20 best of the 11,851 entrants from the 1st International
Paper Airplane contest sponsored by Scientific American. Some trivia: the
smallest entry was .08" x .00003 inches; the largest, 11 feet!. Guaranteed
to provide hours of amusement, and possibly even inspire careers in aerodynamics.
Customer - In a world of hi-technology, electronics, computers
and robotics, it's amazing such a book is still in print. This book has
been a great inspiration for me through the years as it has thought me a
lot, not only about folding paper airplanes. It teaches us all that though
we may have super-computers today, it's the creativity that matters after
all, because the best idea could possibly be the simplest.
